Terrific Thrifty Thursday #25

Gasp, already? It's the 25th Terrific Thrifty Thursday! Seems like I just started this blog. How come the year is going so fast?! It's going to be October tomorrow already! Well, lets get the 25th TTT going! As promised, it's a special scarf edition!

First is from Cut Out and Keep's user, Erin! This project is the "Recycled Tee Circle Scarf". You can make it so it's a regular scarf instead. Isn't it soooo cute?

This project is from Cut Out and Keep's user, moosie m. and it's the "Ripped Scarf". I could see one for me in a bright purple!

This one's from Delia Creates. Check. Out. This. Blog. She has great ideas and you probably remember her from the last Terrific Thrifty Thursday when I featured her for an apron! The "easy fluffy fringe scarf" is so pretty and gauzy!

This one is from Craft Stylish (excerpted from SewStylish Fall Fashion 2010, p. 92) . It looks so warm and stylish. It's the "Infinity Scarf"!

I think that's enough for now! I hope you were inspired.

Do you have an idea for a Terrific Thrifty Thursday? Then you can submit an easy cooking, frugal, accessory, clothing, tip, and/or craft related project to: mypassionsforfashions (at) yahoo (dot) ca I would love to hear from you! Also, if you have been featured please grab one of my buttons for your blog!

You Should Watch This...

Here's the address if you can't see it. I really like this Footzy Rolls commercial! Do peoples high heel's heels really snap off? Only one objection: why would you want dozens of Footzy Rolls in your suticase for traveling? I would carry one pair! ;-) I think if I got a pair of rollable flats they would be from Footzy Rolls (on the actual site, ebay) . What are your thoughts?

I thought this commercial was a little funny because of the girl screaming in pain because of her heels. rollable shoes are a good invention! I think they would be good for me because...

In the winter, the parking lot is really bad at our church and my flats could get ruined, walking in the mall, taking walks outside, and of course, when my shoes are killing me! I would also never walk bare foot on sidewalks or in stores! I actually really don't wear heels! I have one pair of sandles with heels that were passed down. Maybe if I found the right pair that weren't to high...

Also, if you own rollable flats what brand do you have? What are your thoughts on them? Sorry if I have been carrying on a bit about rollable shoes. They're just so cool!

Terrific Thrifty Thursday #24

It's the 24th Terrific Thrifty Thursday! Let's get started on it! And I also have some more posts to post today, so stick around! Also, the 25th TTT is next and I would love if you would submit me any scarf projects! See below for submitting info!

First off is from Delia Creates! I think this just might be one of my new favourite blogs! Beautiful photos, great posts, and amazing ideas. I'm sharing the Pumps and Pearls Apron, it's so pretty! She says this is how she (and lots of people)  look most days :

And this is how it makes her feel:

And second is from Adventures in Dressmaking! Very good ideas on here! I'm sharing these very cute jean shorts! They have cuffs!

I love good blogs. ;-)

Do you have an idea for a Terrific Thrifty Thursday? Then you can submit an easy cooking, frugal, accessory, clothing, tip, and/or craft related project to: mypassionsforfashions (at) yahoo (dot) ca And if you have been featured please grab one of my buttons for your blog! Updates On My Blog...

I need to update you guys about somethings on my blog. First off, I know it is The Week of Thrift and I haven't been showing you guys many thrifty finds, so I'm probably going to have to stretch out The Week of Thrift! Also, this week was my Birthday and I did a Birthday post! It was my 100th post!!!!! I wanted to do a post I have wanted to post for awhile now for my 100th one, but I thought that since it was my Birthday I should do something else instead. I wasn't posting my thrifty finds because I was holding out for my 100th post!

And one more thing! I have updated the T-shirt into Belted Top Tutorial with some new finished product pictures and some of the words and sentences changed. Why did I do this? I was submitting it to Blue Cricket Design and I saw it needed some updating! I should have said slits instead of holes, I should have had more pictures of the finished product, etc... I do have a Word document of the html for the old one, though. Please go check out the new one! That's it for now!

Happy Birthday To Ponytails! 5 Things About Me!

Guess what? My Birthday was in the last few days!!! I'm 13! I'm excited! I'm one of those people that gets all excited about her Birthday. I can't believe I'm a teenager already. Here are 5 things you probably didn't know about me.
1. I can do a mean cartwheel. I even did one in the aisle of a store once! Don't worry, there wasn't anyone there. ;-)
2. I pay for a lot of my own things. My parents pay for coats, sneakers, and the sensible stuff. I pay for all my thrifty finds, craft stuff, and clothes that are stuff I want, but you know, aren't a need. Of course I pay for a lot of other things too.

3. I love when people complement my clothes and I can say back, "Thanks! I made it!". I was at a Birthday party for a friend and we had a little fashion show. We all gathered in the office to wait for judging and some girls said, "I love your sweater!". (The t-shirt shrug!) I said I had made it along with the skirt and one girl said, "You should be a fashion designer!".  Love that.

4. I did my Grandpa's lawn all summer. He did pay me! Maybe I should go to the fabric store...

5. I use to "stalk" blogs for quite awhile before I started following! Now I'm glad I switched over! I don't have to check all the blogs and find 2 new posts after checking 10 blogs.

I hope those were good facts! Have a great weekend!

Terrific Thrifty Thursday #23

It's the 23rd Terrific Thrifty Thursday! I know it's The Week of Thrift, but my next post will be my one hundredth and I am planning on something special! It might just take a little time, but I think you'll have fun reading it. Okay, now to get on with the 23rd TTT! And in honour of The Week of Thrift it's a double TTT!

First up is from MADE. Seriously, when I first started reading this blog I would go backwards in the archives! I love this blog, go check it out! Anyway, I wanted to share the Chevron Patterned Pillow today with you guys. She used striped fabric to make this pillow! And Dana is celabrating yellow for a bit!

And next is from Simply Handmade by Paige! She took a baby's changing pad and turned it into a laptop case! This is so smart!

And next is a project from Found in the "Ali"! This is a great blog! I love her ideas and she just opened an Etsy shop too... She made a pretty cool skirt from a XXXXL shirt! I didn't even knew companies made shirts this big!

And from Ruffles and Stuff! I know she has stopped posting, but she still has great tutorials! It's the Lemonade Dress! I need to try this! Ok, guess what? I clicked "home" on her page and guess what? She posted today! I hope she pops in and out a little!

That wraps up the 23rd Terrific Thrifty Thursday!

The Week of Thrift: The Magic of Scarf Fashion

One of my most recent thrifty finds was on Saturday. Me and my family were at a church sale. I had looked at fabric and there really wasn't any that was catching my intrest, so I checked out the books. I saw a few sewing books, but nothing really exciting. Then I saw a book that is called: "The Knaughty Look presents The Magic of Scarf Fashion" by Lorraine Hammett. I showed it to my Mom and she said, "Oh, I used to have that! You should go for it!" I got it for twenty-five cents! Best thing? The back sticker says that it was from Sears and cost $9.99! I saved... $9.74! It's also double sided!

What's that sort of thick cardboardish thing underneath the book?  It's a stand! You can prop up the book so it can be placed on your dresser while you are follow one of the little tutorials.

What's this book about? It's a LOT of different ways to wear scarves. Each look is with words and illustrations. Some of them are VERY outdated, though. Yeah, this book is from the 80's! Maybe you could tell from the front cover. ;-) There are even ways to make dresses and beach cover ups or bikinis!

I think I got a good deal! There are some good ideas in there including how to use scarf clips in many different ways! What do you think? Stay tuned for tommorow's thrifty find. This is...

Introducing...

The Week of Thrift!

I have found many awesome things at thrift stores, yard/church sales, and dollar stores and haven't posted them. I decided to make a whole week of posts about those thrifty finds. Terrific Thrifty Thursday will be a double one in honour of The Week of Thrift!

This week starting on Tuesday I will be showing you thrifty finds from different days. My family and I go grocery shopping on Saturdays and that's when we go to thrift stores, church sales, dollar stores, and yard sales. I'm excited to show you my thrifty finds from the past few weeks during...

I See Some Refashioning Happening in My Very Near Future...

About 15 or so minutes ago our next door neighbour came by and gave us 2 bags of clothing. I came outside to say hi to my Dad and he was standing talking to her and holding 2 bags of clothing! I haven't went through them yet. They have been cleaning out their garage and had already come over with another bag a week or so ago. (showing that to you soon)

You know what I'm thinking, don't you? REFASHIONING TIME! Yep, I love using old clothes to make new ones! And second hand is nice because I don't have to cut apart my stuff. All I do when I get second hand fabric or clothing from thrift stores or neighbours is wash it. For fabric to make sure it isn't going to shrink. And for both to clean the fabric or clothing! I'm excited! ;-) See you guys Monday.

A Fashion Question for You!

I was wondering if you guys would like me to share ensembles I put together. Maybe once a week. I would need a cool title for the posts like, "Runway: Name Of Outfit" or something like that. What are your thoughts? How about "Ponytails' Runway: Name Of Outfit? Hmmm...

-Ponytails

Strap It Up

I'm trying to have more intresting titles! ;-) Anyway, I would love to own a pair of strappy sandals/gladiators. I don't own any and I just think they are so stylish and they would go with a lot of outfits! Here are a few pairs I like:
(Old Navy) I found these on the Old Navy website in May and they don't seem to be on the site anymore. I love the beaded tops!

(Priscilla Embellished Gladiator Sandal American Eagle at Payless) I love everything about these and they have really good reviews! These are probably my favourites.

(Zen Gladiator Sandal Montego Bay Club at Payless) These are so simple and chic! I love the buckles on the gladiator type sandals.

(Source) I like #10 the most.

I really don't like the kinds that go far up your legs:

(Source) Ewwww.

(Source) I'm sorry if any of you like these tall ones, they are just not my personal favourite.

Spring has a lot of pretty pairs. Here is one pair I liked:

(CHASSER at Spring) Love the straps on these.

(Moxie Strappy Flat Sandal Montego Bay Club at Payless) I really like these. They come in gold, purple, and silver! Montego Bay Club seens to have lots of stylish strappy sandals.

I know some of these days now are a little colder now, but I think they would look great maybe in an outfit like this:

Yep, I did a collage in paint from a few different stores. Now, about the outfit. The top I know is a little more than I would pay, but I had a "vision" and this basically fit it. The tank top is to go under, because the top is sheer! I know basically everyone reading this blog will not be able to fit girl's shorts. This ensemble is what I was thinking, I'm not wanting anyone who wants to copy this to think they have to find the exact same belt, or sandals. These are guide lines!

The belt is $12.00, but Suzy Shier has great deals! I went in there with my sister to look around and they have some great 1/2 price items in there, so maybe it would be six dollars... I meant the belt to cinch at the waist, not for the shorts! And those sandals are one pair I mentioned further up in this post. Love those!

I would really like some feed-back on this ensemble. Ugly? Wonderful? Would you have used something different? What are your thoughts on strappy sandals?

Terrific Thrifty Thursday #22

It's the 22nd Terrific Thrifty Thursday. Just so you all know, I will know sometimes be saying TTT instead of Terrific Thrifty Thursday. It's just faster! First up Obsessively Stitching's post about turning a dollar store t-shirt into something waaaay more stylish.

And second is from She Is My Sister. Using crayons, regular, colouring page, wax crayons you can colour on your fabric! This is awesome!

Hey, how about making a shirt like Obsessively Stitching's and using crayons to decorate it?!

Also, when finishing off a recent TTT, I saw that my e-mail had a ".com" after it instead of my ".ca". I have corrected some past TTTs now. I'm sorry if you tried to send an idea in and I didn't respond, it was the wrong address, sorry!

School's Starting!

School is starting tommorow where we live. I am excited as well as a little upset that it's going to get cold and I can no longer where my flip-flops everyday. (Where did summer go!?) ;-) As you probably all know I'm homeschooled and I'm going into Grade 8. Because of school, my posting won't be as often. Probably 3 times a week. I have some REALLY cool posts coming up, though! Some stuff more towards the back to school stuff and other posts about projects that I have finished that I need to share! Really soon will be a post that I think you'll like. Here's a hint:

I'm looking forward to some really fun posts!
