Strap It Up

I'm trying to have more intresting titles! ;-) Anyway, I would love to own a pair of strappy sandals/gladiators. I don't own any and I just think they are so stylish and they would go with a lot of outfits! Here are a few pairs I like:
(Old Navy) I found these on the Old Navy website in May and they don't seem to be on the site anymore. I love the beaded tops!

(Priscilla Embellished Gladiator Sandal American Eagle at Payless) I love everything about these and they have really good reviews! These are probably my favourites.

(Zen Gladiator Sandal Montego Bay Club at Payless) These are so simple and chic! I love the buckles on the gladiator type sandals.

(Source) I like #10 the most.

I really don't like the kinds that go far up your legs:

(Source) Ewwww.

(Source) I'm sorry if any of you like these tall ones, they are just not my personal favourite.

Spring has a lot of pretty pairs. Here is one pair I liked:

(CHASSER at Spring) Love the straps on these.

(Moxie Strappy Flat Sandal Montego Bay Club at Payless) I really like these. They come in gold, purple, and silver! Montego Bay Club seens to have lots of stylish strappy sandals.

I know some of these days now are a little colder now, but I think they would look great maybe in an outfit like this:

Yep, I did a collage in paint from a few different stores. Now, about the outfit. The top I know is a little more than I would pay, but I had a "vision" and this basically fit it. The tank top is to go under, because the top is sheer! I know basically everyone reading this blog will not be able to fit girl's shorts. This ensemble is what I was thinking, I'm not wanting anyone who wants to copy this to think they have to find the exact same belt, or sandals. These are guide lines!

The belt is $12.00, but Suzy Shier has great deals! I went in there with my sister to look around and they have some great 1/2 price items in there, so maybe it would be six dollars... I meant the belt to cinch at the waist, not for the shorts! And those sandals are one pair I mentioned further up in this post. Love those!

I would really like some feed-back on this ensemble. Ugly? Wonderful? Would you have used something different? What are your thoughts on strappy sandals?

Roll Up Your Shoes Again!

Remember when I showed you the "Fabby Rollable Ballet Flats"? I didn't see that there were more brands to choose from! All of them have the same idea, roll up (or fold up your shoes) small, and put them in your handbag. I just thought I would show you the different styles and brands! Oh, and all these brands come in different colours! ;-) All linked to from the CSN website.

What do you think of rollable ballet flats?

High Fashion

Isn't it great when you can knock-off all those awesome high fashion looks? Carbon Couture has done lots (I first saw some through Dollar Store Crafts) and I'm showing you them too! Everything she does turns out so close to the original! Here are some I like:

Cara, from Carbon Couture did a mirror skirt and they look almost like mirror images!

Mall Finds

I went to the mall with my family on Saturday and I wanted to show you what I got. First of all, I am not the kind of person who goes to the mall and spends $100.00 on clothes. 2 reasons: I like finding discounts and being frugal and I am not always buying my own clothes because I am only almost 13 AND I have a older and younger sister who need clothes too. My Mom posted on her blog, Dewey's Treehouse about our mall trip. Anyway, back to my mall finds.

I needed a pair of dressier shoes because my other pair were falling apart. Let me tell you, I have size 9 shoe size and sometimes I need a 9, a 9 1/2, or a 9 wide! I needed a 9 wide in flats and there were only about 6 pairs in the shoe store of 9 wide flats! It is in the mall so it's not very big so, I understand them not having very many shoes! I wanted a pair of black flats because they match everything but, I found these gray ones. They had black too but, only in 9 and they had the gray in 9 wide! I really like these.

I could see someone doing a knock-off of these with the jersey knots! These are so comfortable! And we got a discount of 30%! I also went to Old Navy and got a shirt and a tanktop. I like Old Navy and it is a good store but I don't really love Old Navy but, I liked the colour of the shirt. There was a good discount there, it was student/teacher week.

What's that? If you are a student show your student card and if you are a teacher show your teacher I.D.! You don't get I.D. until you are in highschool so, I don't know why they did that. Couldn't they have just given a discount to everyone school aged? Or course I'm only going into 8th grade and I'm homeschooled so, I don't have a student card! My Mom is my teacher (my Dad does do science and math with me) and she has a card from a Provincial Homeschool Group and the cashier said, "What's that?" she took it anyway!

The tanktop that I wore with my t-shirt shrug was a little low for me so I put it on inside out, pinned where the straps should be, sewed, and sewed the loops that were made to the back of the straps. Now it isn't low! Those are my mall finds! What have you found at the mall lately?

Hello Kitty Headband

(Image on left from: Salty Pineapple)
I found a really good tutorial from this great blog called Salty Pineapple. The tutorial I am featuring today is for a Hello Kitty Headband! I made one and it is so cute and it is really simple to make. Nikki, from Salty Pineapple used hard headbands to make them but I had bought a pack of stretchy elastic headbands awhile back that I barely wear so this was a great way to transform one into a special headband! The pack I had bought had 6 colours in two different styles per colour(thin ones without flowers and thick ones with flowers)so they were a really good deal! Here's what they look like:
There are lots of colour options to chose from! You can match the felt and headband colour like Nikki or make a colour combination, like me! I decided to go with a thin pink headband with a yellow bow. Here are the results from the headband:

This got me thinking, "Who else wears a bow?"
Minnie Mouse!
I doubled the size of the bow and instead of hot gluing it to the headband I just sewed it to headband to see if that would work too. You can also hot glue it. This would be great for a Halloween costume!
I know the Minnie Mouse one looks a little bit dorky otherwise and I would probably NOT recomend wearing it in a place with lots of other people, like the mall. Because you would probably get some funny looks! :P
I really like my new Hello Kitty headband! If you guys want more hair accessory projects please let me know!

Tip: Scarves

Today I have a tip for you about scarves. I recently learned this from a crochet book, this one. If you are making your own pattern for a scarf, knitting or crocheting and you don't know when it's long enough to stop, here is a tip. A good sized scarf should go from the tips on your fingers on one hand to the tips of the fingers on the other hand with your arms stretched out wide. Another way is to do that with a measuring tape and remember that measurement. I am about 150cm but, it's easier to just put your hands to the sides of you while holding the scarf.

Wire Necklace!

Hello!
I was looking at a Mad Skills Link Party at Mad in Crafts and saw that there was this wire necklace. It is really easy to make and if you have the supplies it can cost you nothing! It looks like it would be a nice present for someone who likes necklaces and wants something different from those necklaces from the store! I think I'm going to have to try this sometime!

Jacket Makeover and Pink Circle Scarf

Hello!
This week was my little sister's birthday and I decided that I would give her a couple pieces of clothing. Not from the store! It was much more fun to make them and my little sister had always admired my blue circle scarf. Another thing she had always liked was this navy blue fabric jacket not made out of jean but in a jean jacket style.

I made her a circle scarf out of a pink shirt I got from Michael's when the t-shirts were on sale and I gave her the jacket but I made some changes to it. I brought out my Crayola fabric markers and cut a star from some fabric and using a template. Those Crayola fabric markers are great and I only payed about a dollar at a yard sale for them! I thought of a few designs and settled on a "I Love Horses" design because she loves horses. I drew it and then ironed it to set the design.

Then I had to sew on the patch. I thought at first that I would sew it on the sewing machine but my Mom thought that it would be better if I sewed it by hand. I decided that I would put it on the pocket and I sewed it on. I had to kind of go in the pocket and then out because I wanted the pocket to be able to open.

That's was all I did besides clean the jacket first! My little sister really likes her scarf and jacket and I see her wear them all the time. She actually got a complement on the patch today. I love how the pink circle scarf turned out!

Finished Shorts (Clothes Design Class)

Hello! I finished the pair of shorts I talked about and here are the pictures. I cut the pair of jeans using a measuring tape to measure how long I wanted and a binder so I could get the line straight. Then I used Crayola fabric markers to make designs around the pockets and used an iron like the package says to set the designs. I made a sash and put dots on it and ironed that too. Then I used magenta thread and a straight stitch around the bottoms of the shorts so they would only fray up to the stitch. That was it! What do you think?
