Terrific Thrifty Thursday #37 and #38

I didn't do a Terrific Thrifty Thursday on the 23rd because I was busy finishing up presents and enjoying the time off. Here's a double TTT to make up for the lost week.

DIYnetwork had a cute toaster pastry ipod cozy to keep your musical device cute! (Tutorial by: Amanda Reed)
Mud Puddles and Daisies has a great tutorial for a wallet. Head on over to check it out!
SWEATshirt DRESSshirt shows you how to make a "snake braid". How unique!
Sew Dang Cute Crafts made a "sew dang cute" knock-off skirt! How cute are the ruffles? Oh, and thanks for making it longer. (you have got to go see how extremely short this original skirt is! :P)
Do you have a project to share for a Terrific Thrifty Thursday? Then you can submit it to: mypassionsforfashions (at) yahoo (dot) ca I would love to hear from you! Also, if you have been featured please grab one of my buttons for your blog!

5 Fave Monday (#8)

I am sorry it's 2 days late! Here are some things I like...
1. The "Citrus Goodness" collection by That70sShoppe on Etsy.

Collections on Etsy are a good way to get inspired! I love the colours and I love the items in this one. Thank you, That70sShoppe!

2. Fun typewriters:

I love vintage! Typewriters are not only handy to type on, but they are pretty cool looking. You should check out these seller's shops--they're pretty intresting!

3. Purple:
Some of you may know that I love the colour purple. Maybe my blog gives it away. It's such a pretty colour. I also like blue. That's probably because I'm blonde and blondes look good in blue. I like pink, too. Okay, now I'm just rambling.

4. Safety pin bracelets:

I would like to make one someday.

5. Nancy Drew (starring Emma Roberts)
My sister got this for Christmas. I loved it. I loved Nancy's style in the movie. I'll probably do a movie review post on this.

That's it for now!

Teen Girl's Daybook (#3)

So, how was your Christmas or whatever else you celebrate? My family and I had a great one! It was a nice suprise when my Grandpa called and said my Aunt had had a boy! I never thought he would come on Christmas! How cool is that?

Here's a daybook for today:

Starting time...3:41p.m.

Mood...okay.

Outside my window...sun, snow.

I'm thinking...sledding.

I'm reading...the words I type.

I'm listening to...ABBA.

I'm wearing...a red scarf, black t-shirt, heart necklace, and jeans.

I'm excited...that my new cousin was born yesterday! I hope they call him Chris, ha, ha.

I'm sad because...Christmas day is over. :( Good thing there are 11 more days of Christmas left!

I'm hungry for...nothing.

The song stuck inside my head is...I don't know. (that's not a song's title. I just can't think of one right now.)

I would like...play a board game with my family. Or something like that...

I ♥...the time I spent with me family on Christmas yesterday.

I loathe...cold weather.

Ending time...3:54p.m.

One Small Child...

...in a land of a thousand.
One small dream of a savior tonight.
One small hand reaching out to the starlight.
One small savior of life. Ooh.

One king bringing his gold and riches.
One king ruling and army of might.
One king kneeling with incense and candlelight.
One king bringing us life. Ooh.

(chorus)
See Him lying, a cradle beneath Him.
See Him smiling in the stall.
See His mother praising the Father.
See His tiny eyelids fall.
See the shepherds kneeling before Him.
See the kings on bended knee.
See the mother praising the Father.
See the blessed infant sleep.

One small child in a land of a thousand.
One small dream of a savior tonight.
One small hand reaching out to the starlight.
One small savior of life.

-David Meece

Merry Christmas to you and yours on this wonderful day! Glory to God!

P.S. Picture is by me.

Questions and Answers

(Q:source)(A:source)

One week ago, I asked you followers, subscribers, and other readers/commenters if you had any questions for me, Ponytails. You guys came up with some great questions! Hopefully, these answers will help you know the mind behind My Passions for Fashions better.

1. How much experience do you have with sewing/crafting? Is is something you just picked up on, or were you essentially "raised" doing those things?

I have been crafting ever since I can remember. When I was 3, my Mom and older sister formed a craft group with some fellow homeschooling girls and their Moms. I would do easy things or just play if it was a little more involved. (like: sewing Barbie clothes, etc.)

My Mom let me sew on the sewing machine at about age 8. I did a few little things like: Barbie dresses,  a pillow for Barbie, and a few other things. My Mom's sewing machine broke :(, but Christmas '05 she got a new one!!! :o) Then, I made a pair of pajama pants and a skirt with her and I think I made a few other things. Then, I wasn't really interested with the sewing machine for a while after that.

In the winter of 2009, I picked up a crochet book from the library. I knew how to crochet (my Mom taught me and I took a course at a library) , but I kind of forgot. My Mom, the crochet queen, helped me brush up on my crochet skills and I ended up making a hat, scarf, and then I made a headband (my own pattern):

(Those are both old-ish pictures. Ignore the purple and red scarf, that was a birthday present for my Mom. The pink and white is what you should be looking at.)

Then, I got interested in sewing and picked that up again! That was around the time I started this blog! :o) I also got interested in design, fashion, and started taking out lots and lots of books about the fashion industry and design. I also started looking at blogs more.

2. What is your blog going to look like after the makeover? I am always anxious to see makeovers!!

Ummmmmm. It's a surprise. Sorry!

3. What is your favorite thing about the holidays?

Making things for people, the parties/gatherings with family/friends, the yummy food, and the most important reason we celebrate CHRISTmas. Also, Christmas cheer and music. Just not "Christmas Shoes". :(

4. What is your favorite print/pattern?

Houndstooth and polka dots. (not at the same time, though) :o)

5. Do you have any plans for college?

I kind of want to be in the fashion industry, but I'm not sure. I'm only 13!

6. Do you hope to have kids when you grow up? How many?

Ahhhhh! I don't want to think about it quite yet. :o)

7. Do you do all of the graphics, posts and everything on your blog yourself, or do you have someone help you?

I make my own blog designs and posts. When I first started out, my Mom helped me with a few of the settings. (she has been blogging for quite a while) Sometimes, my Dad will take some pictures of me. When I use a picture that isn't mine, I give the source of the photo, too. It's only fair!

8. What religion are you if it is not too personal?

Christian.

Great questions, everyone!

P.S. I now have 20 followers!!! Welcome to, Katrinka, PetricaC.Jack, Craftydiva, and Megan!

My Passions for Fashions *Handmade Holidays* Gift Round-Up

Here's a round-up of some tutorials I have made up here at My Passions for Fashions. I have 8 tutorials here, but you can't use some for other people because you need to take measurements, try things on halfway through making them, and other things like that.

So, without anymore hesitation, I bring you My Passions for Fashions' 2010 *Handmade Holidays* Gift Round-Up! Yay!!! :)

If you know anyone with little girls or if you have a little sister or daughter, you could make them a cute no-sew dress from just about any fabric! Note: to stop fraying around the arm and neck holes, use Fray Stop. Also note that this dress can be adapted for just about any doll!

This recycled cuff is made from plastic shopping bags and is a fun change from working with regular yarn! Almost any gals on your list would surely love this eco-friendly accessory! Note: you can make all sorts of things with plastic yarn/"plarn".

Know any girls who wear ponytails, buns, or braids regularly? Crochet them this scrunchie for a fun change!

What's the perfect gift for anyone? A nice, personalized drawing of course! If you like trying new techniques, try my method of drawing girls.

There's a round-up! Merry Crafting!
